Erosion is a natural process that occurs very slowly under normal conditions. The associated loss of soil due to natural erosion is balanced by the process of soil formation, and the overall natural balance is not disturbed. This kind of natural soil erosion is part of the Earth's evolution.
Along with this natural process, accelerated erosion occurs, which is directly related to climate and human activities. With the accelerated erosion, the process of destruction and displacement of the soil proceeds several times faster than with the natural erosion, and the loss of soil is not compensated by the process of natural soil formation, and partially or completely loses its fertility. So, because of anthropogenic impact, the loss of soil resources occurs much faster than the formation of soils under natural conditions.
Intensive agricultural technologies have had a great influence on the intensification of erosion processes. This is because doses of pesticides and fertilizers are used that are several times higher than the permissible ones. The presence of pesticides in the soil in excess of the maximum permissible concentrations causes a decrease in the biological productivity of the soil, the occurrence of erosion processes, and a slowdown in the processes of soil formation, which leads to the emergence of man-made deserts.
In the work done, the factors contributing to the intensification of soil erosion processes in the Republic of Armenia are considered, particularly, the use of excessive amounts of pesticides in recent years in the Republic of Armenia are analyzed, which, according to the information presented in the work, has a direct impact on the processes of intensification of soil erosion processes.
