CURRENT TRENDS IN AIR TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION CHANGES IN A COMPLEX SYSTEM OF MAN-NATURE RELATIONSHIPS (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ARARAT VALLEY AND FOOTHILL ZONE)

The work studied, identified and analyzed the relationship between man and nature, focusing on the complex system of man and climate, analyzed and evaluated the dynamics of changes in air temperature and precipitation, discussed and identified the vulnerability of the study area to climate change, presented mechanisms for mitigating and adapting the negative impacts of their change.

It turned out that throughout the entire study area, to one degree or another, there was an increase in annual air temperature values in comparison with the average values of the base period (1961-1990). Moreover, the deviations of the average annual values of air temperature compared to the base period (1961-1990) ranged from 0,1 to 0,5 degrees and 0,5 to 1,0 for the period 1991-2020. Over the past three decades, a significant increase in air temperature has been observed in the study area compared to the entire period of instrumental observations. Simultaneously with height, the deviations of the average annual values of air temperature decrease, that is, in the Ararat valley, the increase in air temperature is greater than in the foothill zone. In contrast to temperature, the dynamics of changes in annual precipitation is not distinguished by its regularity; in some areas there is an upward trend, and in others - a decrease (at 5 stations out of 8 discussed).

Thus, due to the increase in air temperature and decrease in precipitation in the already arid continental climatic conditions of the Ararat valley and foothill zone, continentality will increase even more, a greater need for irrigation will be required, as well as a revision of irrigation norms in the context of predicted climate change.
