UNITED FOR NATURE: ARMENIAN UNIVERSITIES BAND TOGETHER FOR BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION

Ahead of the Republic of Armenia hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), an exceptional event of strategic importance has taken place. Armenia’s leading higher education institutions have joined forces to establish the Armenian University Coalition for Biodiversity. During a solemn meeting held at the American University of Armenia (AUA), the heads of the universities signed an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This initiative, led by the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment, aims to combine the entire educational, scientific, and expert potential of Armenian universities to address environmental challenges, develop eco-education, and promote sustainable biodiversity management.

Shirak State University named after M. Nalbandyan, represented by Rector Yervand Serobyan, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

By signing the MoU, the parties committed to conducting joint interdisciplinary research, implementing innovative educational programs, and engaging in knowledge exchange. As noted by the heads and representatives of the participating universities, this is a unique platform for instilling an ecological culture among the younger generation and translating scientific ideas into practice.
