History of the Chair
Since after the first decade of the establishment of the main university in Shirak region until today, the Chair of pedagogy has been playing a significant role in training the pedagogical staff for schools of Shirak area and Javakhk. The graduates of our university, due to their knowledge in pedagogy, competences and skills gained from their skillful lecturers, have displayed themselves as professional educators, becoming honoured teachers of the Republic.
The Chair was founded in 1947. The first Head of the Chair was G. Manvelyan. Later, the Chair was headed by S. Khachatryan, Davit Yeramyan, Lena Hovsepyan, Vardges Muradyan, Natalya Ginosyan, Gevorg Kocharyan, Artashes Mkoyan, Vahram Mkhitaryan, Ruzanna Mardoyan. Since 2012 the Chair has been headed by Candidate of Pedagogy, Assistant Professor Lusik Ghukasyan. The Chair employs 2 Doctor Professors of Pedagogy, 4 Candidates of Pedagogy, Assistant Professors, 4 Candidates of Pedagogy, 1 Candidate of Philology, 2 lecturers. The Chair is in tight contacts with schools, quickly and efficiently echoing all the changes taking place at school, being in the movement of the reforms in the system of general education. The best illustration of such relationship are the school practices and the steps directed towards the improvement of the school-university co-operation worked out by the Chair, as well as the targeted work with beginning teachers, which has already become a tradition for the Chair. Besides, the employees of the Chair are working hard at the application of new pedagogical technologies to the system of higher education and the use of the rich material and technical basis of pedagogy.
The Chair has its unique contribution to the development of science of pedagogy. The Chair has had doctoral students and post-graduates in the specialisation “Theory and History of Pedagogy” 00.01ԺԳ, lots of dissertations have been discussed in the Chair and later defended in different professional committees.
