Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan was hosted at SUSh
Today, on May 6, the RA Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan visited State University of Shirak and met with the university’s rector, academic staff, and student representatives.
Welcoming A. Manasyan and the participants of the meeting, SUSh Rector Ye. Serobyan addressed the need to maintain the correlation and proportionality between human rights and responsibilities. He emphasized the need for such meetings and expressed hope that they would become more frequent.
The Defender emphasized the role of the university environment, noting that a significant part of her professional activity has been related to scientific, educational and research work, as well as teaching.
- Manasyan presented the peculiarities of the Human Rights Defender institution and the scope of the mandate. She also addressed the importance of forming an effective system for the protection of human rights, emphasizing that knowledge of human rights is of fundamental importance for overcoming numerous problems in public life.
The meeting was held in a Q&A and active discussion format. Representatives of the students and academic staff also came forward with proposals for cooperation.
At the end of the visit, A. Manasyan donated her authored monograph to the university library and, accompanied by Rector Yervand Serobyan, toured the university campus, getting acquainted with the building and learning conditions, as well as the peculiarities of organizing the educational process.
