It is three years since Shirak State University has been co-operating with the “Birthright Armenia” foundation and on this occasion hosting volunteers coming to Armenia from all over the world, who getting involved in various Chairs of the University, share their professional skills with the students and at the same time gain job experience and learn new skills.
The latest volunteer in ac. year 2018-2019 was Hovsep Sarafian from the Californian city of Glendale, or as he presented himself from the other small Armenia.
Being a doctor, Hovsep had been working in Gyumri for three months, volunteering for four organisations. The Californian University graduate held a fortnight training course in ‘Public Speech” at the main University of Shirak.
The course was aimed at teaching skills for preparing and presenting oral public speech in different situations, making short informal presentations as well as longer speeches.
For a fortnight, 33 participants followed the trainer’s instructions, making speeches, team presentations and workshops.
At the end of the course, both the ShSU students and the representatives of the “Birthright Armenia” foundation highlighted the significance of the co-operation. The participants were given licences by the acting rector Mr. Yervand Serobyan.
