Scientific seminar at SUSh

During the scientific seminar, Associate Professor of SUSh Department of Biology and Chemistry Karine Petrosyan presented her research on the topic of “Extraction of Essential Oils from the Raw Materials of the Mint (Mentha piperita) species widespread in Shirak and Lori regions and evaluation of their qualitative and quantitative composition.”

The main goal of the research was to evaluate the potential of plant resources in the northern regions of the Republic of Armenia from the perspective of the production of valuable essential oils, as well as to address the growing interest in essential oil-bearing medicinal plants growing in different climatic conditions.

The speaker also presented the results of the quantitative assessment of the essential oil content of peppermint, a valuable raw material for essential oil production, as well as their practical significance, and recommendations for further preservation and effective use.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of active discussion.
