“Enhancing English Proficiency through COIL: the Collaboration between TUD and SUSh”

The SMARTI project aims to enhance the use of English in Armenia, particularly in academic programs such as natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, and information technology. These fields, where instruction is predominantly not conducted in English, are crucial for the internationalization of higher education programs. The collaboration between the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) and State University of Shirak (SUSh) within the SMARTI project has contributed to the organization and implementation of COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) sessions, discussions on relevant topics, and subsequent sessions in a Q&A format, fostering intercultural learning and improving students’ English proficiency. The report of Erasmus+ program participants was held at SUSh

On May 29, the public report of the staff and students who participated in the Erasmus+ program during the 2023-2024 academic year was held at State University of Shirak.

SUSh EMI Centre is undergoing an external expert assessment

The EMI Centre was recently set up at State University of Shirak as part of the Erasmus+ SMARTI programme, aiming to improve the English proficiency of both internal and external beneficiaries and stakeholders.

The second piloting within the framework of the Erasmus+ SMARTI project was held at SUSh

Today, the second piloting of the educational modules "EMI quality assurance" and "EMI research writing skills" was held at State University of Shirak, which was conducted by Hovik Melkonyan, the coordinator of the Erasmus+ SMARTI project, along with Hasmik Matikyan, lecturer from the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature, and Karlen Manukyan, lecturer from the Chair of Mathematics, Physics, and IT (Information Technologies).

On September 30, 2022, in the scope od Erasmus+ SMARTI project Gerrard Cullen- the project manager and Katja Ullmann from Dresden University of Technology visited SUSh.
