The Solemn Diploma Awarding Ceremony Began at State University of Shirak
Starting from July 8, the solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas has commenced at Shirak State University. This year, 595 graduates have completed their studies at the university, 136 of whom received diplomas with honors.
The diploma awarding ceremony for the Faculty of Social Sciences was attended by Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Shirak Governor Mushegh Muradyan, Gyumri Mayor Vardges Samsonyan, representatives of the university’s faculty and other officials.
The event began with a flower-laying ceremony at the Nalbandyan’s Memorial Stone and the Memorial corner dedicated to the heroes of the University. Welcoming the guests, Yervand Serobyan, Rector of Shirak State University, noted that the university is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, and as a result of its 90-year-long activities, nearly 95% of the staff of the region’s public schools are graduates of Shirak State University. He expressed confidence that the graduates of the university will find their decent place in the labour maket and become competitive professionals.
In her welcoming speech, Nazeli Avetisyan, Acting Vice-Rector-Director of the Center for Educational and Methodological Process Management at the University, presented the history of the University from its founding in 1934 to the present day. Congratulating the graduates, she expressed confidence that the knowledge gained at the University will help them uphold the University’s name in all arenas. Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Ophelia Hovhannisyan also mentioned in her speech that the 90-year-old university has seen achievements and losses, experienced pandemics and wars, and among the graduates of the faculty are widows, mothers, and sisters of those who have died, who have been able to face life’s challenges and achieve today’s desired result.
After the congratulations and well-wishes to the graduates, Anna Hakobyan, Shirak Governor Mushegh Muradyan, Gyumri Mayor Vardges Samsonyan, and Rector Yervand Serobyan solemnly handed out the Diplomas with Honors and Certificates of Achievement to the top-performing graduates.
Among those receiving diplomas with honors were Varduhi Manukyan, Assistant to the Prime Minister’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, and Nyura Muradyan, President of the Student Council of Shirak State University.
