The Presentation and Blessing Ceremony of the Methodological Study “The Principles of Athlete Selection and Orientation in Weightlifting The Case” Took Place at State University of Shirak

Shirak State University hosted the presentation and blessing ceremony of the methodological study “ThePrinciples of Athlete Selection and Orientation in Weightlifting: The Case co-authored by A. Matevosyan, A. Govelyan, A. Nersisyan and V. Bichakhchyan.
During the event, co-authors V. Bichakhchyan, A. Matevosyan, and A. Nersisyan discussed the background and urgency of the book, highlighting the key aspects of the research process. They emphasized that the study covers the origins of weightlifting, its introduction and development in Armenia—particularly in Gyumri—and the achievements of Gyumri’s weightlifters on the international level. This methodological work serves as a valuable guide for students, researchers of physical education and sports history, young weightlifting coaches, and athletes.
Congratulation speeches were delivered by the Rector of Shirak State University Yervand Serobyan, Chief Expert of Shirak Regional Department of Education, Culture, and Sports Vachagan Vardanyan, the Head of the Physical Education and Sports Department of Gyumri Municipality Mekhak Ghazaryan, and Rector of Gyumri’s “Progress” University Rafik Khachatryan.
The event was attended by prominent figures in the field, including the Olympic champion I. Militosyan, the 2024 World Championship bronze medalist Alexandra Grigoryan, the world and European weightlifting champions, and other representatives of the given sphere.
Professor Samvel Grigoryan, an Honoured Figure of the Republic of Armenia, congratulated the authors and recited a poem dedicated to the legendary athlete Yuri Vardanyan. The event also featured musical performances by international competition laureate Burastan Grigoryan and Honoured Artiste Tigran Hovhannisyan.
