Civic Education Center at SUSh
Today, at State University of Shirak, after M. Nalbandyan the solemn opening of the “Civic Education Center,” took place implemented jointly with the “PH International” organization.
The event was attended by representatives of the regional government, other universities, the administrative staff, and students of the State University.
Before signing the joint activity contract, the guests were greeted by Yervand Serobyan, the rector of the SUSh, and Mariam Martirosyan, the director of the Armenian branch of the “PH International” organization, and the head of the “Civic Education and Participation program. They emphasized the necessity of establishing such a center for the youth in Gyumri.
Gevorg Ghumashyan, the chief specialist of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports of the RA Shirak Province Governor’s Office, Armen Bezhanyan, the head of the youth involvement component of the “Civic Education and Participation program, and Karen Petrosyan, the director of the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics, also delivered congratulatory remarks.
The “Civic Education Center” was established and provided by the five-year program of “Civic Education and Participation,” which received funding from the US Agency for International Development. The aim of the initiative is to cultivate a conducive environment for the advancement of young people’s civic knowledge, social and technical skills, and their substantive and enduring engagement in public decision-making processes.
The “Civic Education Center” was outfitted and equipped with computer hardware. Additionally, the center has a library offering a wide array of both professional and popular literature. Both university students and community youth have free access to the center’s resources and can engage in various events, courses, and discussion meetings.
