State University of Shirak’s Olympic Athletes

Over time, students and graduates of the “Physical Education and Sports Training” program at State University of Shirak, have consistently demonstrated and continue to demonstrate exceptional athletic performance in both national and international competitions. University’s student-athletes have consistently succeeded in the circle of triumphs, winning international competitions and making notable contributions to the profession’s history.
We are pleased to announce that three of the fifteen Armenian athletes competing in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris are students at the State University of Shirak in the “Physical Education and Sports Training” program. These athletes include weightlifter Garik Karapetyan (102 kg), boxer Davit Chaloyan (+92 kg), and athlete Yervand Mkrtchyan.
Davit Chaloyan, a student at SUSh, world runner-up, multiple international tournament finalist and award winner, and four-time Armenian champion, will be our republic’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
