Seminar on “The Importance of Blood Donation” at Shirak State University

On 2 October of this year, Shirak State University hosted Andranik Shamilyan, Deputy Director for Blood Services at the Hematology Center after Prof. R. H. Yeolyan, Lusine Hakobyan, Coordinator of Blood Banks, and Naira Meliksetyan, Head of the Gyumri Blood Bank.

Welcoming the guests and participants, the Rector of the University, Ye. Serobyan, noted that the students and staff of Shirak State University have always been willing to donate blood whenever necessary. In particular, during the 44-day war, such an initiative was organised at the University itself. However, it is desirable for blood donation to be carried out on a regular basis, without waiting for any specific occasion or urgent need.

In his speech, A. Shamilyan likewise emphasised the importance and necessity of fostering a culture of blood donation by presenting and clarifying all related issues to the University’s staff and students.

During the meeting, A. Shamilyan explained in detail that blood donation not only saves patients’ lives but also has a positive effect on the donor’s health. He stressed that blood donation stimulates the production of new blood cells and may even reduce the risk of developing certain diseases.

The Rector of Shirak State University, Yervand Serobyan, expressed his gratitude for the meeting and noted that they are carrying out a truly important and patriotic mission.
