Scientific Seminar at Shirak State University on the Topic “The Activities of Alternative Social Service-Providing Organizations in Shirak Region”

A scientific seminar entitled “The Activities of Alternative Social Service-Providing Organizations in Shirak Region”was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Shirak State University.

The speaker, Amalya Khadunova, lecturer at the Chair of Psychology and Social Work, noted that since 2016 the child care system in Armenia for children in difficult life situations has been undergoing transformation, prioritizing alternative care models. In recent years, the state has been actively expanding day-care services.

As an example, she presented the Khachmeruk Foundationprogram “Provision of Day-Care Services for Children,” implemented in Shirak Region under the delegation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia. The organization provides social-psychological support, nutrition, legal counseling, educational and therapeutic services, and other forms of assistance.

A. Khadunova emphasized that the number of both centers and beneficiaries has been increasing year by year, which serves as further evidence of the importance and growing demand for such services.
