On September 1, Shirak State University celebrated Knowledge and Education Day in a festive atmosphere. Rector Yervand Serobyan delivered a welcoming speech, greeting the students and wishing them a productive and successful student life. He especially congratulated the first-year students and presented incentive gifts to those entered the university with the highest scores.

A welcoming speech was also given by Nyura Muradyan, Chair of the Student Council.

Representatives from the “Teach for Armenia” educational foundation were also present. Arshak Poghosyan, Manager of University Cooperation and Student Engagement, congratulated the first-year students and presented them with ribbons titled “First-Year Student: Study at SSU, Teach in Armenia” on behalf of the foundation.

September 1, 2025, marked the beginning of a new tradition at SSU: Knowledge and Education Day will now also honor the university’s benefactors. On July 3 of this year, at a session of the SSU Academic Council, revisions were approved to the Regulations on SSU Foundation Awards and Honorary Titles, establishing the “SSU Benefactor” honorary award. According to the regulations this award is conferred, upon the Rector’s recommendation and the Academic Council’s decision, in recognition of long-term, fruitful contributions and dedication to educational and scientific activities within the SSU Foundation. The first commemorative medal was awarded to Azat Matevosyan, distinguished contributor to physical culture and sports in Armenia.

At the end of the day, faculty deans and the Head of the Military Department presented first-year students with student ID cards and symbolic gifts. Students then toured the university buildings with the deans, familiarizing themselves with the university’s departments. The festive day was further enhanced by a performance from the Kyazor Military Band, making the celebration memorable and joyful.
