Exhibition Titled “Graduates” at Shirak State University
On 22 October, within the framework of events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Shirak State University, the opening of the exhibition titled “Graduates” took place at the University. The jubilee exhibition was organised at the initiative of Associate Professor Araks Margaryan of the Chair of Sport and Arts of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The exhibition features paintings by SSU graduates from different years, representing various genres:
• “Homeland” — author: Mamikon Varderessian
• “Motherhood” — author: Roman Makaryan
• “Native Land” — author: Shoghik Matsakyan
• “Armenian Still Life” — author: Shogher Ghahramanyan
• “Scenes of Gyumri” — author: Artur Muradyan
• “Still Life in Sanguine Technique” — author: Hasmik Sargsyan
• “Still Life in Oil” — author: Anzhela Makaryan
• “Crosses” — author: Artush Koshtoyan
In her opening remarks, A. Margaryan noted that the presented works belong to different styles and genres, and that the exhibition format became clearer when she was able to find symbolic parallels and thematic connections between the portraits of the Nalbandyan family commemorated in the Heroes’ Memorial Corner of SSU and the exhibited artworks.
In particular, one side of the Heroes’ Memorial Corner presents paintings symbolising the Homeland, while the other side features works depicting the life-affirming path of overcoming disaster, symbolising Motherhood and Faith — the pillar of the Armenian family.
In his speech, SSU Rector Yervand Serobyan warmly congratulated and expressed his gratitude to the Chair of Sport and Arts and to Araks Margaryan for organising and holding the event, emphasising that creating such an educational environment is important for the aesthetic development and communication skills of students. He also extended special thanks to the participating graduates, who continue to maintain their connection with the University by actively taking part in such initiatives.
Yervand Serobyan presented certificates of appreciation to the graduates who actively contributed to the organisation and implementation of the exhibition.
