A Scientific Seminar at State University of Shirak on the Topic “Current Issues of Olympic Education in General Education Schools”

A scientific seminar entitled “Current Issues of Olympic Education in General Education Schools” was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Shirak State University. The speaker was Gevorg Aghanyan, Head of the Department of Sports and Arts.

The purpose of the seminar was to analyze the role of Olympic education within the school education system, identify existing challenges, and propose ways for improvement.

G.  Aghanyan presented the ideology and fundamental principles of Olympic education, addressing the existing issues related to these matters in general education schools. He also spoke about the doctrine of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, and its impact on the educational system, emphasizing the relevance and importance of these ideas in the upbringing of school-aged children.

Afterwards, Meline Galoyan, a 2024–2025 academic year Master’s graduate of the “Physical Education and Sports Training” program, presented the results of her research, which concerned the current issues of Olympic education in general education schools.

The seminar ended with a discussion followed by questions and answers.
